Admin History | The Finance Committee was established in 1905 as a sub-committee of the Council to advise on all issues of financial management including investments. From 1948 onwards the Committee was called the Finance and General Purposes Committee. In July 1987 the Council resolved to merge the Finance and General Purposes Committee with the Planning Committee to form the Planning and Resources Committee. The mandate of the new Committee was to concern itself with all matters relating to the finances of the College, authorise expenditure limits, authorise changes to the terms and conditions of staff, manage investments, advise Council with regards to the development of land and buildings, allocation of College accommodation and the consideration of other general matters that do not fall within the remit of other Standing Committees. Under the new Committee were 5 sub-committees: the Bar Sub-Committee, the Investments Sub-Committee, the Budget Sub-Committee, the Domestic Sub-Committee, and the Joint Committee on Staffing. This last sub-committee was also a standing committee of the Academic Board. |
