Description | This sub-series contains records relating to the Report of the Committee of Enquiry into the Governance of the University, more commonly known as the Murray Report, 1972-1975. |
Admin History | The Murray report investigated the governance of the University of London. The Committee was chaired by Lord Murray and had no legislative powers. The Murray Report was published in 1972 and highlighted three main problems: lack of constitutional and practical arrangements for planning of academic and financial policy, inadequacies in administrative organisation, and lack of staff and student involvement. As a result the idea of amalgamating Colleges was suggested and explored. |
