Title | Sundial Diaries |
Level | Series |
Date | 1911-1935 |
Extent | 1 box |
Description | The Sundial Diaries cover the period 22 March 1911- 24 March 1935 and record Constance Maynard's retirement.
They cover the time that she lived in both the Sundial in Little Bookham (1911-1919), and the Sundial in Gerrard's Cross (1923-1935), and time staying in Wimbledon and Hawkhust temporarily inbetween.
These mainly record the activities involving her cottage, such as gardening, work completed and visitors. They also include brief details of visits to other places.
Each diary includes details of visitors received including current and previous Westfield staff and students, family, and friends. There are details of their time spent with her, and also some biographical information such as their work since leaving the college.
There is a volume dedicated to recording her Christian work in the village of Little Bookham. |
Admin History | She was still keeping her Greenbooks and Travel Diaries throughout this period, and there is a small overlap with her Diaries. |
Arrangement | This series is arranged by original order, which is chronogically, where possible, and also by function. |
